Here is a re-cap from yesterday.
Our day started earlier than we were prepared for. We met at 6:30am to set up the classroom for a group of business people that sells insurance in Texas. There are only 4 people at the group that currently speak English.
Last night we also taught the same English lesson which we taught in the morning (we will be teaching the same lessons each day/night to the two different groups all week).
Our host Diego and his people were quite discouraged as we went into starting to teach the English. We only had 50 people signed up for the lessons at night.
We did what anyone would do in this situation... We called on the Name of the Almighty and asked Him to draw people to us. We had handed out flyers the day before and had a very great prayer time.
What sticks out to us from the prayers is how Diego specifically prayed that as we "had casted out our nets" like the verse in John 21:1-7 talks about that we would see many people turn up.
We are SO THANKFUL for all of you back home that have also sent out your prayers for this situation.. AND we are stoked to let you know that... not only did the 50 people show up but in total we had 120 people come out last night to our English class... we were blown away... God you never cease to amaze us!!
Last night among the chaos of having more people than expected, it being our first night teaching after a long day and our nerves we would like to say that as a group we worked well together, helped each other out and are proud of each other.
Brad was the "lucky" one that got to go first and and share his testimony with the masses. We are so proud of him. He did such a good job in sharing how God has changed his life. We wish you could have been here to see the awe in which people were listening to his every word.
His passion showed through as you looked around the room, many people were being touched. Such a great moment!!!!
Brad also shared his testimony (in a shorter form) this morning in the business group and people kept asking if it was a "real story" at the tables, but once he started into the thick of it, he had captured their attention and you could tell that they were moved. One of the ladies spoke up at the end and said to him, "we are all your friends Brad".
The work of God is amazing in peoples lives!!!!!
Another great experience we had yesterday was different man named Diego overheard us saying on our hour break that we were hoping to find some Colombian ice cream (helado as the locals say). He dropped everything he was doing, and basically took us on a sweet adventure around town, we got some ice cream and a cultural lesson. I don't know many people back home who would drop everything they are doing to show a bunch of foreigners around (whom they can't fully communicate with). It was pretty humbling.
We anticipate many more stories as such and are SO THANKFUL for all of you back home who are praying for us. Without you we could not be covered so well in prayer and we KNOW that because of you many more people showed up last night for the English lessons.
Please continue to pray against any attacks the enemy may have on us to discourage us.
For our health (the long days are taking a toll)
And for God to continue to work in the lives of those we are meeting.
That we may be bold in our faith despite the language difference.
Also we ask for prayer for rest.
SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST:
The head of the business group that we are teaching each morning this week is named Mauricio. He communicated to us that he is a Christian and that he would like prayer for him and his family. Two days ago he ended up telling a Paramilitary group that he would no longer pay protection money. They came to his house that evening (our first day teaching), with guns to threaten him and his family.
We have been praying for safety for him and his family, protection over them and salvation for the Paramilitary people (God can do all things- what satan means for evil God can work out for good!!!).
We would ask that you would do the same.
Just a note this doesn't affect any of us in the group, we are all safe and sound. We simply share this is so that you can pray with us about this situation.
